As can be seen by the name, The Yardbirds Experience
features the talents of Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty
alongside other sixties luminaries from the same period
of British Rock Music. The band for this recording includes
former Jimi Hendrix bassist Noel Redding, Downliners sect
members Don Crane and Keith Grant and former Creation
guitarist Eddie Phillips. Holding it all together at the front
is former Nashville Teens vocalist Ray Phillips.
The band were a regular attraction on the London gig
circuit during the late eighties and early nineties and were
the catalyst for McCarty to reform the Yardbirds on a more
full time basis.
Originally recorded and released in 1996 this album
features material that reflects the bands illustrious
membership. Tracks include a Jimi Hendrix Trilogy of
Hey Joe/The Wind Cries Mary/Purple Haze, Shapes of
Things 96, Tobacco Road 96 and Train Kept A Rollin’ 96.
There is also a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic Whole
Lotta Love and a number of original compositions written
for the album.
Fans of Classic Rock music played at its best will appreciate
the album as will fans of the various bands whose members
make up the line up of this band.
