County Fair 2000

County Fair 2000

About this release

PHIL ALVIN was the big voiced front man and founder along with his brother DAVE of THE BLASTERS.

Unlike his brother, his solo career has been fairly low key, and has made only 3 solo albums.

County Fair 2000 originally released in 1994 on HIGH TONE, was only his second solo recording.

ALVIN had the good taste to employ an impressive list of guests including THE DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND, BILLY BOY ARNOLD, CESAR ROSAS from LOS LOBOS, amongst others.

His exploration of Americana has references to Delta Blues, New Orleans brass bands, Rockabilly, Country, automobiles, and tap dancing.

Bizarrely out of print for many years and now available once again.

Tracks:

County Fair, Wreck Your V-8 Ford, The Blue Line, That Thing, Turning Blues into Gold, Starlight, Keep in Touch, What’s the Reason I’m Not Pleasing You, She Loves So Good, Callin’ Corrine The Terror, Oh Doctor, Mr Satellite Man, Low Down Rhythm, Danny Boy’s Mourning Sunset The Old Rugged Cross, Didn’t He Ramble.
