Equal parts SOUTHERN ROCK (Allman Bros) with more than a hint of LED ZEPPELIN and FREE and a healthy dose of Chicago Blues, THE STEEPWATER BAND are in actual fact residents of the “Steepwater Ranch” outside Chicago, Illinois.
Their debut for the new US based Funzalo label is “Dharmakaya” which finds a simultaneous release here in Europe on Evangeline.
Produced by PAUL KOLDERIE and SEAN SLADE (RADIOHEAD, HOLE, UNCLE TUPELO, THE PIXIES and WARREN ZEVON amongst many other production credits, “Dharmakaya” retains all the energy of their live show which word of mouth reports suggest is one of the most exciting of the new bands to emerge from the USA

Formed in 1998, 3 members of the band (Jeff Massey, Joseph Winters and Todd Bowers) had played together and separately in various blues and rock combos before uniting to become The Steepwater Band.
Together they moved to Indiana in a house they christened "Little Pink" where they lived and perfected their music.
In 2000 they were joined by singer/songwriter Michael Connelly who left the band in 2004.
The band made its first European appearance at The Azkena Rock Festival 2005 in Spain sharing the stage with The Black Crowes, Gov't Mule, Wilco, Queen of the Stone Age and Deep Purple among others.
