Formed at the dawn of the progressive rock era in 1969, from the ruins of SIMON DUPREE and THE BIG SOUND led by the brothers DEREK, RAY, and PHIL SHULMAN.
Their debut album was released in 1970 on the Vertigo label.
GENTLE GIANT seemed poised for the big time in the mid 70’s but somehow failed to break out of its “cult band” status.
This 2 CD set features two live shows from American concerts in 1975 when the band were touring to promote their freehand album.
Probably recorded by a fan in the audience the sound quality is best described as fair, the performance however is exceptionally strong.
Re-issued at MID-PRICE.
