Rather like fellow San Francisco band The Grateful Dead,
Jefferson Starship find themselves in the twenty first century
with as much interest in their career as they had in the sixties
and seventies. The band still led by founder member Paul
Kantner and joined occasionally by fellow founder member
Marty Balin still tour regularly and record occasionally. The
band however does have a large archive of live recordings
made over the years and stored away in the vault. Similar to
the Grateful Dead’s “Dick’s Picks” series, in early 2008
Jefferson Starship launch their own official live archive series
Mick’s Picks. The live recordings have been chosen and curated
by the bands current manager Michael Gaiman.
This recording is one of the more recent live recordings from
Jefferson Starship who are still led by founder member Paul
Kantner.
This three disc set covers a great many Jefferson Starship
classics alongside selected works from Jefferson Airplane’s
catalogue.
Tracks include With Your Love, Runaway, Count On Me, Ride
The Tiger Jane, Somebody To Love, Lather White Rabbit and
Volunteers.
Along with the vintage material there are some contemporary songs by the likes of BOB MARLEY. JOHN LENNON and RICHARD THOMPSON.
