Nic Potter is probably best known for his work with the
British rock band Van Der Graaf Generator. Initially however
Nic played in a band called The Misunderstood along with
Guy Evans who would also join Van Der Graaf Generator.
Nic joined Van Der Graaf Generator in 1969 and recorded
the album The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other
and recorded part of the next album H To He, Who Am The
Only One before leaving. He was however to return to the
band later in the seventies and played on two more albums
from the band, the studio album The Quiet Zone/The
Pleasure Dome and the live album Vital before the band split.
In between times and of course beyond his final stint with
Van Der Graaf Generator Nic Potter has had an extensive
solo career recording a number of solo albums and for a
short period in the early to mid eighties was a member of
Peter Hammill's band The K Group.
Mountain Music was originally released in 1983 and like
many of Nic Potter's albums features music of an electronic
nature. The album features contributions from Guy Evans,
guitarists John Ellis, formerly of the Vibrators and the
Stranglers and Peter Gabriel's band and Huw Lloyd Langton
formerly of Hawkwind.
Tracks include Morning Suite, Paradise Journey, The Forest
and Mountain Vision. Mountain Music forms part of a
campaign of Nic Potter reissues that began with the boxed
set All Contained in 2009.
