J21 is releasing his solo debut Yellow Mind : Blue Mind on 7th
September, 2009 on Voiceprint Music. Yellow Mind : Blue Mind
features performances by legendary hard rock singer Graham
Bonnet (Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz), stick player genius Trey
Gunn (King Crimson), percussion legend Ed Mann (Frank Zappa)
and is produced by Geoff Tyson (one of Joe Satriani’s top
students and member of the now defunct cult band T-Ride),
who also plays bass and additional guitars throughout the record.
I wanted to create an album as diverse as possible. Unlike other
guitar players I’ve tried to put together a record where guitar
virtuosism is very subtle.” explains J21. “All the lead guitar parts
are very improvised. My main focus was to avoid standard song
structures. It was also a joy to play with some of my favourite
musicians, like Graham, Trey or Ed.
