About this release

DAEVID ALLEN founder of THE SOFT MACHINE and GONG, used THE MAGICK BROTHERS as part of his acoustic period in his long creative career.

This album was recorded live at The Witchwood in Manchester in 1991.

DAEVID played acoustic guitars, sang, and wrote the majority of songs on the album.

The band’s name derived from the song ‘Magick Brother’ written by MOTHER GONG herself GILLI SMYTH.

MARK ROBSON on keyboards, didgeridoo, and flute, was a member of THE INVISIBLE OPERA COMPANY, and GRAHAM CLARK plays violin.

Unavailable for many years, this is a welcome addition to the DAEVID ALLEN catalogue.

Tracks:

Zero Theme, Why Do We Treat Ourselves Like We Do?, I Am My Own Roadie, Herbacious Border, Have You Seen My Friend, Wayland Smithy, Trial By Headline, Isle of Glass, Children of the New World, Wise Man In Your Heart, Magick Brother.
